About Me and My Practice
I was born and bred in Dunedin. I spent my school holidays working with herbs in my parents' Garden Centre. After achieving a Bachelor of Arts degree (Otago), I headed for Christchurch to complete a six year Diploma in Naturopathy and Diploma in Clinical Herbal Medicine at the Canterbury College of Natural Medicine. Under the strict supervision of Peter Kearns, a well-respected Naturopath/Herbalist, I progressed to practising alongside Peter at the Clinic of Natural Medicine in Christchurch. In 1999 I was offered a job at the supplement company Thompson Nutrition Limited, as Training Manager and Technical Adviser. This varied role included product development, technical information, and delivering nationwide seminars and lectures to health stores, pharmacies and medical professionals. Topics often included recent scientific research on nutrition and herbs, and drug-herb interactions.
I have a modern, common sense approach to improving health, negotiating small and long term changes in diet and lifestyle while employing therapeutic doses of vitamins, minerals, or herbal medicines to increase energy and motivation. I work closely with clients to ensure the best results.
