About Me and My Practice
I practised as a nurse for 15 years after which time I realized I wanted to understand how to assist people to advocate for themselves, particularly within the hospital system.
This inspired me to work on my own personal development, pursue further tertiary education, and subsequently train as a Gestalt therapist.
I believe every person knows in themselves what is right for them. I will work with you to explore, experiment, draw, and discover what is meaningful and satisfying for you.
We work together, I as a facilitator, a mirror, and support, to bring to the surface what hinders you from achieving or flourishing. We will explore patterns of behaviour which impact on your well being and relationships. We will experiment with possibilities for growth and change.
I am a trained Gestalt Therapist. I also use other methods, for example, the strengths-based approach, art therapy, mindfulness, psychodynamics, self-support, mind and body as interacting, and couples work.
While I work with both individuals and couples, I have a special interest in working with women who have encountered trauma in their lives. I also offer supervision for nurses, midwives, and allied health professionals. My many years experience in nursing assists me in this work.
